WATCH: Drilon vs Aguirre at hearing on Kian's death
Senate minority leader Franklin Drilon on Thursday called out a perceived bias in Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre's statements defending policemen and criticizing the outcry over the death of a 17-year-old student.
Drilon, who was a former justice secretary himself, said Aguirre does not seem to be impartial in the investigation into the killing of student Kian delos Santos in Caloocan City.
Aguirre, for his part, insisted that the attention to the case is "overblown." Thousands of people, on the other hand, have been killed in President Rodrigo Duterte's brutal campaign against drugs.
"Blown out of proportion because it was a solo incident," Aguirre said, echoing Malacañang's earlier statements that the killing of Delos Santos by cops was an isolated incident.
