More than a woman
The officers and members of the Catholic Women’s Club (CWC) under the leadership of president Baby Gloria are finalizing preparations for their 2017 annual ball, which will be held at the Manila Polo Club in Makati City on Sept. 22. The 96-year-old club also provides scholarship grants to well-deserving students in Don Bosco Technical Institute and Punlaan School and seminarians in St. John Ma. Vianney and is involved in environmental work at different places in the City of Manila including Arroceros Forest Park, Plaza Lawton and Intramuros. A despedida for the ambassador
Rustan’s Commercial Corporation chairman and CEO Nedy Tantoco recently hosted a farewell dinner for her close friend Mexican Ambassador Julio Camarena. After a successful term in which the ambassador brought in billions worth of business from his country to the Philippines, he bid his farewell to the nation he called home for four years. The elegant Tantoco residence welcomed the ambassadors of Canada, Greece, Singapore and Morocco, all of whom raised their glasses to wish their departing colleague all the very best in his future diplomatic endeavors.
Discovering Samar and Leyte
In line with promoting local tourism and uplifting the lives of the people of Samar and Leyte, Financial Executives of the Philippines (FINEX) and Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) partnered with ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation for Samar-Leyte Ecotour Year 3. The project is also in partnership with the Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), along with the local government of Basey, Samar. The FINEX-MAP members enjoyed a three-day excursion which involved a tour of Samar’s famed landmarks such as San Juanico Bridge and Sohoton Cave. They also attended a flag-raising ceremony at Leyte’s provincial capitol city of Tacloban. They walked down memory lane as they explored the MacArthur Landing Memorial Park as well as the Sto. Niño Shrine — attractions that boast of priceless historical information and artifacts. It was a memorable experience that reminded those in attendance of the beauty and richness of our nation’s sights and history.
