The Italian and Philippine diplomatic communities gathered together at the recent Italian National Day celebration and the 70th anniversary commemoration of diplomatic relations between our two great nations. Held at the Grand Plaza Ballroom of Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila, the event was led by Italian Ambassador Massimo Roscigno and his lovely wife Agnes together with Philippine-Italian Association (PIA) president Nedy Tantoco. Almost 700 guests enjoyed a sumptuous Italian feast as well as a curated exhibit of the Salvatore Ferragamo pre-fall 2017 collection. They were also able to view several visually compelling panels that recounted the many projects that the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation has had in the Philippines for the past 30 years. The Philippine-Italian Association (PIA), which has been at the forefront of promoting cultural exchanges between Italy and the Philippines since 1962, also had its own booth displaying its cultural activities. “This country… has a great future ahead,” Ambassador Roscigno said of our nation. “And the Philippines has many friends! Italy, I am proud to say, is one of them.”
