An homage to the Filipino legacy

Moripearl Co., Ltd. general manager Yutaka Fujii and president Katsuyuki Mori with Jewelmer international sales manager Franck Ferrari

Jewelmer Joaillerie, a French-Filipino international luxury brand founded by group chairman Manuel Cojuangco and group president and CEO Jacques Branellec, recently co-hosted a fashion show celebrating fine Filipino design and craftsmanship in partnership with The Philippine Embassy in Japan, Rajo Laurel and Philippine Airlines. For the first time in Japan since 1964, the fashion show was held at the Imperial Hotel in Chiyoda, Tokyo, and was attended by 500 guests, 118 of which were esteemed ambassadors. Jewelmer had the honor of presenting one of the most prized pieces of the evening, and Miss Universe-Philippines 2016 Maxine Medina led the show, wearing one of the brand’s most iconic creations: the Miss Universe Philippines headpiece. It features a cluster of golden pearls evoking the glory of a natural treasure and is inspired by colorful vintas sailing in the Philippines, alluding to the country’s vibrant history and culture. Maxine and the other models looked ethereal garbed in the stunning creations of celebrated Filipino designer Rajo Laurel. The evening also celebrated the inauguration of Ambassador Jose Laurel V as the new Philippine ambassador in Japan.

Floorstone: One-stop shop for grinding, honing and polishing surfaces

Floorstone, a one-stop-shop polishing supplies center, recently opened at EDSA Crame, Quezon City. Floorstone is an affiliate of J.VAZ.CO., a pioneer and proponent of concrete polishing in the Philippines, which is likewise an expert on terrazzo polishing.

Floorstone’s product lines include floor-grinding machines, burnishing/polishing machines, industrial vacuums, auto scrubbers, machine spare parts, resin bond diamond pads, metal bond diamond pads, PCD bond diamond pads, polishing pads, accessories for tools and grinding machines, measuring devices, power tools, and chemical hardeners and sealers, among other high-quality items. Cleaning materials for maintaining the gloss and shine of polished concrete are also available.

Junjie Vazquez, owner and president of J.VAZ.CO., had qualms at the beginning about opening Floorstone, but his passion and concern for the floor-polishing industry prevailed.

“The machines and equipment that I’m using in J.VAZ.CO. are the same as what we are selling in Floorstone,” said  Junjie Vazquez. “These are tried and tested, proven to be of best quality and efficiency. So if I share these things with others, then it will be good for the industry.”

Floorstone presents an added benefit for smaller players in the floor-polishing industry. Start-up companies or individual property owners may have difficulty procuring the necessary equipment and accessories since these are imported with prohibitive costs. This situation has been resolved since Floorstone has already sourced these tools and equipment from its network of international suppliers from the US, China, South Korea, Vietnam, Australia, Germany and Italy.

“My dream is to make people aware — especially those engaged in the concrete polishing business, architects, contractors, builders, and business owners — that there is a one-stop-shop that would cater to all their concrete polishing needs and solutions,” said Junjie.

The Floorstone showroom is at 523 EDSA, Crame, Quezon City. For information, call 0917-6678989, 0917-6588989 or 997-6713.
