Grand wedding at Grand Canyon

Best wishes to philanthropist and concert producer Pinky Tobiano (one of PeopleAsia’s People of the Year awardees in 2007) and accountant Juancho Robles who are getting married at the Grand Canyon in Nevada, USA, on Tuesday, Oct. 28, with only very few family members and close friends in attendance. Among the principal sponsors are Gov. Chavit Singson and Pangasinan Rep. Gina de Venecia, with Pinky’s daughters Pianne and Karrel May as bridesmaids.

The date of the wedding has to be advanced due, according to Pinky, “to health reasons” (she’s set for a critical surgery in January). The sweethearts are planning to have another (bigger) wedding back home end of January, presumably in Balesin Island, Quezon Province, barely two weeks before that of Heart Evangelista and Sen. Chiz Escudero.

2 Pinoy designers shine in Brooklyn Fashion Week

For the third straight year, US-based Filipino designers John Guarnes and reigning Classic Mrs. Asia International Global Joyce Pilarsky showcased their creations at the recent-well-attended 2015 Spring/Summer Fashion Week Brooklyn, said to be the biggest night of the year in that area.

Joyce, who was 59 when she won the title in Malaysia last June, captured the trends of her era by incorporating modern trends using pineapple fabric; while John showcased his “Masquerade Tattoo” theme using neon fabric complete with eye masks.

The two also graced the Boston Fashion Week first week of October.— FELIX MANUEL

Miss Saigon stars not seeing eye-to-eye?

Could it be true that Miss Saigon stars Rachelle Ann Go (as Gigi) and Tanya Manalang (as Kim) don’t see eye-to-eye although they share an apartment in London?

According to Funfare Update’s West End DPA, Rachelle took advantage of Tanya’s absence (when she came home for a show at Resorts World) and hosted a fun birthday party at the pad — “Thankful that Tanya wasn’t around,” said the DPA. “Tanya is reserved while Rachelle is the opposite, kaya hindi sila magkasundo.”

The DPA also said that Rachelle now has a boyfriend who is a member of the musical’s ensemble.

“But Rachelle avoids talking about her love life,” added the DPA.
