Forum seeks solutions to energy consumption

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The government and the private sectors are challenged to deliver energy adequate to fuel an economy that was planned to grow by an average of six percent annually but now appears to be growing at an annual average of seven percent over the medium-term.

The high energy consumption offers business opportunities for the stakeholders in the generation, distribution and transmission of energy. They are gathering during the PowerTrends 2013 business forum from Sept. 25 to 26 at the SMX Convention Center to obtain a better understanding of available business opportunities and regulatory risks.

PowerTrends 2013 is the ninth biennial international exhibition and conference on energy trends and power technologies for both traditional and renewable sources of energy.

It is organized by Leverage International in cooperation with the Department of Energy.  Interested parties may contact Leverage  at 8132472 or 8186828.  The event website is http://powertrends.leverageinternational.com.  Email address is [email protected].

The business forum at PowerTrends has three major sessions. They will be chaired by former energy secretary Francisco L. Viray,  CEO-president of Trans-Asia Oil and Energy Development;  Federico Puno, CEO-president, TeaM Energy Corp.; and former energy undersecretary and Napocor president Cyril C. del Callar,  Del Callar Partners Co.

Chamber of Coal Mines, Otto Energy Philipines and PhilCarbon, Inc.; Sebastian Quiniones, managing director of Shell Phil. Exploration and Roger Buendia, first VP-trading and marketing of Aboitiz Power.
