City government partners with two schools for nursing program

CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City government, Cebu Technological University (CTU), and the Cebu City Medical Center - College of Nursing (CCMC-CN) formally sealed a partnership through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) that aims to expand opportunities in nursing education and strengthen the city’s healthcare workforce.

Mayor Nestor Archival led the signing ceremony alongside CTU President Dr. Jonita Literatus, CCMC-CN Dean Dr. Audrey Laude Garganera, and ex officio Councilor Franklyn Ong, chairperson of the City Council’s Committee on Education.

The event was also attended by CTU administrators Glenn Meneses Gamalier, assistant dean for academics; Divine Maligaya Cortes, assistant dean for administration; Alma Recardo Cosedo, librarian; and Imelda Mier Dano, health promotion officer, together with other city officials and hospital representatives.

The partnership between CTU and CCMC-CN will allow deserving students, particularly those unable to afford private nursing colleges, to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

“This consortium will help provide deserving students with an opportunity to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, particularly those who may not be able to afford private nursing colleges,” Archival said.

He emphasized the importance of the collaboration, noting that it not only helps young Cebuanos achieve their aspirations but also contributes to strengthening the city’s nursing and healthcare workforce.

“Importante kini nga collaboration kay makatabang ta sa atong mga kabatan-onan nga maabot ang ilang pangandoy ug, at the same time, makatampo sa pagpalig-on sa nursing and healthcare workforce sa Cebu City,” he added.

Representatives of CTU and CCMC-CN expressed gratitude to the city government and academic leaders for their support. (CEBU NEWS)
