Gun ban violators nabbed
CEBU, Philippines - A resident of Barangay Utanan of this town was arrested for illegal possession of firearms and violation of the election gun ban.
The suspect, identified as Gerry Barcial, a farmer, was caught armed with a homemade shotgun, which he allegedly aimed at barangay treasurer Rolly Sambayon, who was at the time sleeping outside the house of his aunt.
Village chief Melecio Ner, who responded to the scene just in time, arrested and disarmed Barcial and turned the latter over to the police. Barcial is now detained at the police lockup cell.
Machete and his men later arrested 35-year-old Glenn Donan, a native of Pinamungahan town in Cebu but residing now at Brgy. Himo-aw in Hilongos, for carrying a .38-caliber revolver with 11 pieces of live bullets. (FREEMAN)
