HASI Grappling Invitational tomorrow

Lemuel P. Maglinte - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — Elite grapplers will converge in the Queen City of the South for the HASI Submissions Only Grappling Invitational tomorrow at the Kampo Bar in North Reclamation area, Mandaue City.

The tournament is an all-submission, hence, points systems wont be used in determining the winner of every match. The tournament will follow a double elimination system and the winner will take home P15,000.

“Taking away the points system, the fight fans will surely witness fast-paced and exciting matches. This event is free for all especially those who are looking for a different kind of action,” said HASI’s Niño Castro.

Close to 20 grapplers that include jiujitsu fighters, wrestlers and judokas are set to showcase their wares. Aside from Cebuano martial artists, visiting fighters coming from Cagayan De Oro City, Bohol, Bacolod City, Manila, Macau and United States have confirmed their participation.

A special attraction, Cagayan De Oro jiujitsu pioneer Popo Juarez of Atos Philippines will lock up horns with the equally-strong Japanese grappler Hiroshi Hirasawa of Pato Studio BJJ. (FREEMAN)
