Zafra wants to keep Task Force Kasaligan

CEBU, Philippines — Cebu City Councilor Philip Zafra wants the 150 members of Task Force Kasaligan to continue working for the city government next year.
Zafra is pushing for the renewal of their service contracts, which are expiring next month. The chairman of the committee on peace and order of the City Council said that the members of Task Force Kasaligan played a very important role in the city’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Zafra said the members of the task force were in the frontlines in the enforcement of the health protocols to prevent the spread of the virus.
"Atoang nakita nga dako gyud ang ilang natabang sa pagpatuman sa health protocols busa atoa gyud nga paningkamutan nga ma-renew sila," said Zafra.
The city government is paying each member of the task force a monthly honorarium equivalent to a job order employee of the city. Most of them are criminology graduate.
Zafra explained that the city needs their services despite the decrease in the number of active COVID-19 cases. He said a continued patrol in the interior sitios of the barangays is very important to keep the active COVID-19 cases low.
The members of the Task Force Kasaligan were responsible in enforcing the health protocols in the interior areas and apprehending protocol violators with the guidance of the Cebu City Police Office.
Zafra said the task force members are also needed in the various activities after Christmas. He said they can assist during the Sinulog activities and even during the campaign period and the elections next year. — Sanden J. Anadia, FPL (FREEMAN)
