Entertainer arrested for striking ex-girlfriend
CEBU, Philippines — A 23-year-old entertainer was arrested after allegedly hitting his 26-year-old former girlfriend on the head with a cellphone when she refused to reconcile with him in Barangay Banilad, Cebu City.
The suspect, identified only by the alias “Mark,” was taken into custody by personnel of the Mabolo Police Station following the incident at Holy Family Village.
The victim, identified as “Joana,” sustained a bleeding wound on her forehead after the alleged assault.
Investigators said Mark, who was intoxicated, went to Joana’s rented room and insisted that she get on his motorcycle and go with him to his place.
When she refused, he allegedly lost his temper and struck her on the head with his cellphone.
Both work as club entertainers and had ended their six-month relationship several weeks before the incident.
Investigators said their relationship was marked by frequent arguments fueled by jealousy.
Mark is being held at the Mabolo Police Station and faces a complaint for allegedly violating Republic Act 9262, or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004. — /MRM (FREEMAN)
