DOLE issues wage advisory for April holidays
CEBU, Philippines — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has issued Labor Advisory number 5 series of 2019 for the payment of wages for April 9, 18, 19 and 20, 2019.
Pursuant to Proclamation number 555 issued by President Rodrigo Duterte on August 15, 2018, the following rules for pay on April 9 (Araw ng Kagitingan) ;18 (Maunday Thursday) and 19 (Good Friday) which are regular holidays, the following computation shall apply.
If the employee did not work, he/she shall be paid 100% of his/her salary for that day which means the daily rate plus cost of living allowance (COLA).
For work done during the regular holiday, he/she shall be paid double of his/her regular salary for that day for the first eight hours.
For work done in excess of eight hours or overtime work, he/she shall be paid an additional 30% of his/her hourly rate on the said day which means hourly rate of the basic daily wage, multiplied by 200%, multiplied by 130% and multiplied by number of hours worked.
For work done during a regular holiday that falls on his/her rest day, he/she shall be paid an additional 30% of his/her daily rate of 200%.
For work done in excess of eight hours during a regular holiday that also falls on his/her rest day, he/she shall be paid an additional 30% of his/her hourly rate on the said day or hourly rate of the basic daily wage multiplied by 200% , multiplied by 130%, multiplied by 130% multiplied by the number of hours worked.
On special non-working day which is on April 20 (Black Saturday) the following pay rules shall apply.
If the employee does not report for work, the ‘no work, no pay’ principle shall apply unless there is a favorable company policy, practice or collective bargaining agreement (CBA) granting payment on a special day.
For work done on these days, an employee shall be paid an additional 30% of his/her basic wage on the first eight hours.
For work done in excess of eight hours, employee shall be paid an additional 30% of his/her hourly rate, or hourly rate of the basic wage multiplied by 130%, multiplied by 130% and multiplied by the number of hours worked.
For work done during these days that also fall on an employee’s rest day, he/she shall be paid an additional 50% of his/her basic wage on the first eight hours.
For work done in excess of eight hours, an employee shall be paid an additional 30 percent of his/her hourly rate or hourly rate of the basic wage, multiplies by 150%, multiplied by 130%, multiplied by the number of hours worked. — MBG (FREEMAN)
