Teachers’ confab starts today

CEBU, Philippines — The week-long Visayas Private Educators Global Conference unfolds today at the Recoletos Center for Arts and Culture (RCAC) of the University of San Jose-Recoletos.

Expected to attend are private school owners, administrators, and teachers, especially those who schools are offering basic education program from kindergarten to senior high school.

Although focused on private schools, Department of Education’s regional director Salustiano Jimenez has expressed its full support of the event.

The event spearheaded by the Cebu Province Association of Private Schools and Administrators in partnership with Starland International School, Inc. carried the theme "Basic Education Beyond Borders: Redefining Learning in a Global Context".

The objectives of this gathering it to analyze the alignment of the strengthened Senior High School curriculum with global standards in preparing learners for higher education, employment, entrepreneurship, and middle-level skills development.

Aside from that, organizers eye integrating 21st-century skills like critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity into content and teaching strategies to ensure relevance to global challenges and opportunities.

They are also looking into exploring innovative and inclusive pedagogical approaches that support active learning, interdisciplinary instruction, and digital literacy within the context of the enhanced basic education curriculum as well as promote the use of technology and open educational resources among other.
