Low performing police chiefs given ultimatum

Iris Hazel M. Mascardo - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu Police Provincial Office gave an ultimatum to chiefs of police belonging to the bottom 10 as far as their performance during operations are concerned.

CPPO director, Police Colonel Engelbert Soriano, issued the ultimatum during the presentation of the result of their operations for the first quarter of the year starting January.

According to Soriano, they have conducted Synchronized Enhanced Managing Police Operations (SEMPO) and Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operation (SACLEO) twice in every month under their flagship program.

He added the CPPO has been the top performing provincial office for the last three months in Region 7.

"This is due to the intensified and more committed efforts of the CPPO staff and chiefs of police na sinasabi namin na let’s keep winning, let’s keep improving. Kaya nakikita sa SACLEO namin, ascending yung number," Soriano said.

Soriano said that as he was satisfied with these results, but there is still a room for improvement since some chiefs of police under his command have low performance.

"There is always room for improvement. Alam nyo 50 ang stations namin. Maraming stations na humahatak pataas at may ilan ilan na humahatak pababa. So what we are trying to do now is to balance everything and gisingin yung mga COP na nagtulog- tulogan and para mas maging significant yung accomplishment," said Soriano.

According to him, they have been keeping track of those who are at the bottom 10 of the 50 station chiefs in every SACLEO and SEMPO.

Those who were monitored to be consistent at the bottom for three times will be called to explain.

"Then we will ask them to explain and I have already advised our staff to take note of these consistent bottom COPs and we recommend them for replacement," said Soriano. — GMR (FREEMAN)
