Hiring of contact tracers continues

Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The Department of Interior Local Government has decided to adopt a continuous hiring system for those wanting to apply as contact tracers.

This means that the deadline previously set for the application for the position of contact tracers no longer applies.

In a press release posted on DILG’s website, the agency said it will continue to accept applications until it has hired at least 50,000 contact tracers as part of its efforts to ramp up contact tracing in the country.

DILG Undersecretary and Spokesperson Jonathan Malaya said that all DILG provincial and city field offices will continue to accept applications until the slots allocated to them have been filled up.

For those who were able to submit their applications on time and got hired, DILG is looking at deploying them next month already.

DILG also said it may give priorities to contractual personnel whose employment were not renewed, as well as to returning overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), local employees whose service have been recently terminated, and barangay health workers.

To qualify, the applicant must have a bachelor’s degree or college level education in an allied medical course or criminology course. Other details to requirements are posted on DILG’s website and social media page, as well as those by the LGUs.

Malaya, however, said that they are also open to graduates or college level of any course.

Applicants are required to submit an application letter, Personal Data Sheet, National Bureau of Investigation clearance, diploma or transcript of record, and drug test result to the nearest DILG provincial or city field office.

Under the guidelines drafted by the DILG, the contact tracers will earn a minimum of P18,784 per month in a contract of service status.

For Cebu City, those who want to be part of the city’s contact tracing team may submit requirements via [email protected].

For more details, clarification and verification from DILG-Cebu City, interested applicants may call LGOO III Emmanuel Pedralba at 0927-202-5623 or to LGOO II Cresencio Aseniero at 0929-509-5148.

For other LGUs, applicants may social media pages or inquire with DILG officers and check city or municipal halls. Walk-ins are also welcome at DILG-7’s office in Sitio Sudlon, Barangay Lahug, Cebu City. — KQD (FREEMAN)
