Over 37T plates arrive at LTO-7

CEBU, Philippines - Around 37,138 license plates arrived Friday at the Land Transportation Office-7 intended for brand new vehicles registered in June 2015.

LTO-7 director Arnel Tancinco said these plates are part of the 600,000 earlier forfeited by the Bureau of Customs after the consignee failed to pay the P40 million duties and taxes. The Bureau of Customs donated the plates to the LTO.

“We still have to conduct an inventory of these license plates.  Basta kini siya para ni sa mga brand new motorcycles and motor vehicles nga na registered starting June of last year. Amoa pa i-check hangtud kanus-a ang period covered ani,” Tancinco said.

He said that they will try to finish the inventory before the end of the month before the license plates could be distributed to car and motorcycle dealers.

“Adto ra namo i-distribute ang license plates sa mga dealers unya adto nalang na nila kuhaon didto sa ilang mga dealer,” Tancinco added.

Tancinco reiterated his call for vehicle owners to get their license plates, whose vehicles that were registered in January to April of 2015 and with plate numbers ending in 1 and 4.

Tancinco said that more than 20,000 plates are yet to be claimed.—(FREEMAN)
