Stars join protests, run for corrupt-free Philippines
CEBU, Philippines — Big stars Vice Ganda, Anne Curtis, Donny Pangilinan, and Vice Ganda yesterday joined the people on the streets protesting against corruption in the country, while Andrea Brillantes also came with her “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo” co-stars Angel Aquino and Maris Racal at Sunday’s rally.
Non-government organization Angat Buhay, in a Facebook post, said the celebrities joined its volunteer network for the Trillion Peso March in EDSA.
Dingdong Dantes and Kim Atienza, meanwhile, led a group of celebrity runners yesterday, calling to end corruption in the country. Other celebrities who joined their run held in Ayala, which observes car-free Sundays, include showbiz couple Kim Molina and Jerald Napoles, Benjamin Alves, Dasuri Choi and “Encantadia Chronicles: Sang’gre” star Faith da Silva.
Choi, a Korean who has been living in the Philippines and has appeared in local shows, expressed support for Filipinos’ fight for change.
Yesterday’s nationwide rallies are part of the movement calling for accountability and end to corruption. It coincides with the 53rd anniversary of the proclamation of martial law by Ferdinand Marcos Sr. on September 21, 1972.
