P-Pop group Boiz Will Be Boiz ready to make a splash

STAR CIRCUIT - Ricky L. Calderon - The Freeman

There’s a new Pinoy pop group to watch out for. And rightfully so, because this particular boyband is so good that they can excite even on paper.

Consider the lineup…

There’s lead singer Ethan David, 19 years old but no stranger to P-Pop, having trained and gained experience as one of the lead singers of the boygroup Nitro.

Brothers BJ and Gas Sy, aged 17 and 12, both grew up around some of the most talented dancer-performers in the biz. Their mom is Teacher Georcelle of G-Force.

Their 20-year-old cousin, Jonric Reyna, is similarly exposed to the same because of his proximity to the Sys.

And then there’s Rey Cariaso, 22, who’s into performing and music all of his young life and who eventually trained with G-Force.

They’re the young, talented members behind BOIZ WILL BE BOIZ, the latest P-Pop group that aims to make a splash with their vibrant music and electrifying performances. They just released their first single titled “I Wanna Know” last Friday, July 29.

Their first ever pop single is a mid-tempo groover that is sure to excite fans of P-Pop. This R&B inflected number, written by Jin Chan and produced by NEXXFRIDAY, will be the launching point for more exciting things from singers Ethan David, siblings Gas and BJ, Jonric and Rey as they make their bid for P-Pop prominence.

Judging by the way the BOIZ look, move and sound, there’s a strong likelihood that every Gen Z will hear about them soon. Because primarily, the BOIZ are themselves of that generation. They’re into TikTok, video games (Gas said that he’s into Valorant) and enjoy hanging out as a group.

Asked what they’re like as a group, Rey said: “Makulit and fun kasi whenever we are preparing for something we would always have moments where we would just be doing random stuff and laugh about it and then the entire process doesn’t seem like work.”

“Fun and light. Whenever we have training, we really don’t treat it as work,” said Ethan, adding that “what we do is our passion.”

“We’re makulit and very talkative,” chimed in BJ.

As to what makes them stand out from other P-Pop groups, Jonric said, “We’re trying to put together our own flavor on P-Pop music that we hope listeners will like.”

“We came from a very dance-oriented background and our knowledge from performing is taught by the best – by G-Force,” said Rey.

“A new fresh sound for Pinoy pop,” added Ethan.

“Our style,” interjected Gas.

As a group, Boiz Will Be Boiz all agreed that P-Pop fans can look forward to good performances and surprises as far as presentation is concerned. And of course, new music “that’s really exciting,” said Ethan.

“Fun and playful performances,” Boiz Will Be Boiz reiterated.

A netizen asked if Ms. Nora Aunor, the newly-minted National Artist for Film and Broadcast, underwent a Botox procedure as she had a very puffy face during Saturday’s FAMAS Awards.

A movie writer-friend who is close to the actress said Ate Guy’s puffy face is due to her medication. There are some medicines that have certain formulation that causes bloating.

We would like to congratulate Ate Guy for the award as Natatanging Alagad ng Sining and for being the first recipient of the Susan Roces Celebrity Award given to her Saturday night at the 70th FAMAS.

We wish that Ate Guy’s movie titled “Kontrabida”, produced by Joed Serrano and directed by Adolf Alix, Jr., will be shown soon.
