Ehda M. Dagooc - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — Cebu is set to reinforce its status as a regional construction and innovation hub as it hosts the 14th edition of PHILCONSTRUCT Visayas, the country’s premier industry trade event, from June 19 to 21, 2025.

Organizers see the exhibition as a key driver of decentralized growth in the Philippine construction sector, aligning with broader national efforts to stimulate regional economies.

Unveiled at the Waterfront Hotel in Lahug on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, the event will occupy 6,000 square meters of exhibition space and feature more than 300 brands from both domestic and international markets.

Backed by the Philippine Constructors Association (PCA), in partnership with the Cebu Contractors Association (CCA) and event manager Philconstruct Events, Exhibitions and Conference Corp. (PEECC), the trade show is expected to attract over 7,000 professionals from across the infrastructure value chain.

The work we do today shapes the resilience of our industry tomorrow,  said PCA President Engr. Jerry Pancho. He pointed to the organization s Industry 2030 Roadmap a policy and strategy framework that centers on regional development, sustainable construction practices, and workforce upskilling.

The momentum behind Cebu as a strategic player in the national construction landscape is gaining institutional support.

Cebu is more than a host city it is a critical innovation node,  said CCA Vice President for Internal Affairs Engr. Kevin Lim.

PHILCONSTRUCT offers a platform not just for trade, but for celebrating Filipino engineering and technical capability,  Lim added.

A central feature of this year s edition is the  Techno forum , a series of expert-led discussions on green building, artificial intelligence in construction, and digital transformation.

According to PEECC Director Engr. Ronaldo  Junn  Elepano, the initiative is designed to go beyond product showcases and stimulate deeper strategic thinking.

The industry must evolve intellectually as well as operationally,  Elepano said.

PHILCONSTRUCT Visayas is part of a larger nationwide rollout that includes parallel events in Luzon, Mindanao, and Metro Manila a deliberate move by organizers to democratize access to business opportunities and technical education.

Bringing PHILCONSTRUCT to the regions is a growth multiplier,  said Series Chairman Engr. Ruben Cueto.

It injects energy into local economies and fosters resilience outside of Metro Manila s economic core,  Cueto explained.

Educational tracks such as seminars on construction contracts aim to professionalize the industry at scale and mitigate operational and legal risks.

Event Chairman Engr. Bernard Vonn Sia highlighted the steady growth of the Visayas leg, which has evolved from a regional initiative into one of the country s most significant trade events.

This year marks a turning point we re no longer emulating national standards; we re helping define them,  Sia said.

Partnerships with national organizations such as the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP), the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE), and the Association of Carriers and Equipment Lessors (ACEL) have helped institutionalize the event.

Major sponsors like Boysen Paints and Smart House are expected to headline technology zones, spotlighting smart modular homes and eco-efficient materials underscoring the market s increasing orientation toward sustainability and digital infrastructure.

Adding intellectual firepower to the event is the CEO Forum, themed  Strategies on Business Growth,  which brings together senior leadership from across the construction and real estate sectors.

The forum will feature keynote speeches from Megawide CEO Edgar Saavedra and Damosa Land President Ricardo Lagdameo, both of whom are expected to share insights into navigating capital-intensive growth under macroeconomic pressure.

These are not ceremonial talks they are strategic dialogues for leaders recalibrating in a more competitive, volatile environment,  said CEO Forum Chair Engr. Zaldy Casinillo.

Co-chair Tracy Liu highlighted workforce development, sustainability, and leadership diversity as critical themes.  Building the future means investing in people. Upskilling and inclusive leadership are now non-negotiables.

PHILCONSTRUCT Vis-ayas 2025 is expected to deliver a high-value convergence for contractors, engineers, architects, developers, and policymakers.
