Yulo strikes floor exercise gold in Asian artistic gymnastics tilt
MANILA, Philippines -- Filipino Olympic gymnast Carlos Yulo bagged the gold medal in the floor exercise of the 2024 Men's Artistic Gymnastics Asian Championships in Uzbekistan Saturday.
Yulo, who took home an individual all-around gold in the competition on Thursday, had a great performance in his pet event.
He scored a 14.933 in floor exercise, finishing ahead of Kazakhstan's Milad Karimi who had a score of 14.600.
China's Yang Yanzhi came in third with 14.200.
The Philippines' John Ivan Cruz just barely missed the podium with a score of 13.966.
Yulo, however, failed to reach the top three places of the still rings competition.
He garnered with a score of 13.533 as he wounded up in the bottom half of the competition.
China's Yin Dehang had a score of 14.200.
Vietnam's Van Khanh Phong Nguyen and China's Yang Yanzhi finished beghind Yin with identical scores of 14.166.
The diminutive Filipino's performance is a big boost ahead of the upcoming Paris Olympics.
Yulo will return to action Sunday.
