MANILA, Philippines — Three local government units (LGUs) Tagaytay, Taguig and Sta. Rosa in Laguna have answered the call to support national athletes preparing for the 31st SEA Games in Hanoi in November.

Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Abraham Tolentino yesterday told the online PSA Forum that Tagaytay would take in athletes from cycling and kickboxing while Taguig is accommodating those from volleyball and table tennis.

Sta. Rosa is willing to host as many as 50 athletes that may come from combat or martial arts sports like karate, judo or even wrestling.

“I called some friends who are passionate mayors and Sta. Rosa agreed to host 50 athletes while Taguig’s (mayor) Lino Cayetano offered to take care of volleyball and table tennis,” said Tolentino.

“Tagaytay, of course, will have cycling and possibly kickboxing,” said the POC chief, who also tipped his hat off to Sta. Rosa Mayor Arlene Arcillas and Tagaytay City Mayor Agnes Tolentino.
