NBA games back on free TV

John Bryan Ulanday - The Philippine Star

MANILA,Philippines — After more than a month of viewing struggle, Filipino fans will finally get to watch NBA games live on free television again starting this weekend on CNN Philippines.

NBA Philippines yesterday announced the recent development, adding to the ongoing livestreaming of select NBA games during weekdays via its social media accounts on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

This new partnership covers CNN’s broadcast of select NBA games during weekends starting this Saturday featuring early league-leader Boston Celtics and handicapped Golden State Warriors missing core players due to injuries.

The coverage starts at 11:30 a.m. to be followed by a clash between Milwaukee and Indiana on Sunday at 8 a.m.

“Weekends just got better with the return of live NBA games on national television through CNN Philippines,” said NBA Philippines managing director Carlo Singson.

“Filipino fans now have a choice of watching our games across a variety of platforms including television, computers and mobile devices via social media and NBA League Pass.”

Last Oct. 1, longtime NBA Philippines partner Solar Sports ceased its NBA broadcast, ending an 18-year stint of bringing the games to passionate Filipino fans.

Apart from the CNN weekend broadcast and social media livestreaming during weekdays, a customized Philippine NBA League Pass package is also in place to give the Filipinos more platforms to experience NBA games.

NBA Philippines has recently announced its partnership with PLDT, Smart and Globe for their subscribers to avail of a NBA League Pass bundle that includes League Pass, Team Choice and 3-Game Choice package.
