Air Force sweeps BanKo, extends winning streak to five
MANILA, Philippines — The Air Force Lady Jet Spikers remained hot in the PVL Open Conference after sweeping the BanKo Perlas Spikers, 26-24, 25-8, 25-21 at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan on Sunday.
Led by the offense of Joy Cases and Dell Palomata, Air Force extended their winning streak to five games.
They now sport an even 5-5 slate after losing their first five games in the conference.
The squads went back-and-forth in the opening set, trading runs to keep the game neck-and-neck.
But BanKo's Kathy Bersola went down with an injury late with her team trailing 21-22.
Despite going on a 3-0 run, the Perlas Spikers couldn't close out the set and gave away the opener to Air Force.
Seemingly dejected after giving up the extended set, the Perlas Spikers couldn't find any rhythm against Air Force.
With the playmaking of Wendy Semana, the Lady Jet Spikers cruised to a 2-0 advantage, 25-8.
Despite a tougher showing from BanKo in the third set, Air Force was able to keep them at bay for the sweep.
The Lady Jet Spikers will test their mettle and hope to extend their winning streak when they face the undefeated Creamline Cool Smashers on Sunday.
