MANILA, Philippines — Jimuel Pacquiao met his match in Ken Danila the other day as the 18-year-old son of the Filipino boxing icon tasted defeat for the first time in his young amateur career.

Jimuel was not in his best form when he battled Danila for three rounds at the Johnny Bravo Boxing Gym in Quezon City.

A loose headgear did not help the son of eight-division champion Manny Pacquiao. He seemed bothered by it from the start, and went on to lose the contest via split decision.

Danila landed his right straights on Jimuel, who was either wrestled or pushed to the canvas twice during the match. In the final round, Danila pounced on Jimuel although the latter never really appeared hurt.

Jimuel hardly landed his favorite 1-2 punch against Danila, and swung hard with his right like he wanted to score a knockdown or a knockout with one punch.

It was Jimuel’s first defeat after three recorded victories over Lucar Carson last February, Miguel Egan last April and Darel Marquez last June.

Jimuel took the loss in stride and shook hands with Danila after the fight.
