F2 Logistics, Petron force duel for Super Liga crown
MANILA, Philippines — Second seed F2 Logistics survived a tough challenge from No. 3 Generika Ayala before scoring a 21-25, 25-15, 25-20, 19-25, 15-5 victory while Petron sailed past Cignal HD, 25-21, 25-20, 25-16, to advance to the finals of the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference at Muntinlupa Sports Complex.
The Cargo Movers squandered a 16-14 lead and failed to close it out in the fourth set but summoned their experience and reasserted themselves in the decider, storming to a 9-2 headstart, en route to taking the first berth in the best-of-three championship series.
“Sobrang hirap, alam naman natin na matibay ang depense ng Generika at nagagawan nila ng paraan spike nila,” said Aby Marano, who delivered 12 attacks, three blocks and one ace. “Tapos tinalo nila kami nung eliminations kaya kumpyansa sila at kailangan namin talaga mag double-effort.”
University of Santo Tomas marched into the Phl Superliga Collegiate Grand Slam gold medal match after posting its fourth straight win at the expense of University of the East, 27-25, 19-25, 25-14, 25-20.
