Ricamonte, Lee rule Highlands Ladies Cup

MANILA, Philippines - Carina Ricamonte turned in a one-under 71 to capture the low gross crown while So Young Lee took the low net honors with a 70 in the 11th Highlands Ladies Cup at the Midlands and Lucky 9 courses in Tagaytay recently.

Ricamonte, one of the spearheads of Sta. Elena in the WGAP Circuit, flashed top form to best the big field while Lee, a 14-handicapper, spiked his round with an eagle as they led the winners in the 18-hole tournament organized by Tagaytay Highlands Ladies Chapter and backed by Diamond sponsors Auto Nation Group (Mercedes-Benz), Pacific OnLine, San Miguel Corp. and W Group, Inc.

Bruce Lee, a 15-handicapper, rammed in three birdies for a 70  to win the Class A plum via the countback over Jordan Mamaril, who also turned in a 70. Dominic Samson, a 22-handicapper, carded four pars for a 72 and also nipped Lito Marana, for the Class B diadem.

Elmer Lapena, a 31-handicapper, scored a 74 to clinch the Class C title by tiebreaker over 30-handicaper Rolly Dizon, who also scored  a 74.  Shiela Ward, with a 15 handicap, snared the ladies division crown with one birdie for a 72, edging Marie Guerrero, a 10-handicapper, who also made a 72, including nine pars.

Gracing the event, supported by hole-in-one sponsors Royal Caribbean and Regent Travel along with The Turf Company and Tee One, were Wilfredo Pe Jr., Auto Nation Group (Mercedes- Benz) treasurer, PLDT SME Nation vice president and head Gabby Cui, and Rosalind Wee, vice president of W Group, Inc.

The tournament  also raised funds  for THLC’s favorite charities, the Sisters of Mary boys and girls town center and the Pearl Buck Foundation in Silang, Cavite.

Other backers were Bingo Bonanza, PLDT-SME, Security Bank, SMDC, SM Stores and Smart Communications as Platinum sponsors and Baron Travel, Holland Blooms, Pilipinas Shell and Regent Travel as Gold sponsor.
