MANILA, Philippines – Kobe Paras’ dream to see action in US college basketball remains alive.

This after the Filipino prospect “verbally committed” to play for Creighton University, a school based in Omaha, Nebraska.

Basketball scout Josh Gershon, an analyst for Scout.com, posted the development in his Twitter account.

Gershon's tweet was picked up by verbalcommits.com, which monitors basketball recruitment by US college schools.

The website likewise specified Paras' status as "Verbally Committed to Creighton."

Shortly after the news has spread, the young Paras have tweeted two images--one bearing the college's logo with a caption similar to LeBron James' announcement, now known as "The Decision."

The Creighton Bluejays, an NCAA Division 1 squad, currently compete in the Big East Conference. NBA players who suited up for them include the Atlanta Hawks' Kyle Korver, the Sacramento Kings' Anthony Tolliver and the Chicago Bulls' Doug McDermott.

Paras withdrew from the UCLA Bruins in late June after reportedly failing to meet academic conditions that were part of his admittance.

But his high school coach, William Middlebrooks of Cathedral High, said the 18-year-old Paras was still a hot commodity, drawing interest from other NCAA Division 1 schools.

Paras made his mark for steering the Phl's Under-18 3x3 team to the FIBA-Worlds twice, where he also became a two-time slam dunk champion against formidable foes from basketball powerhouses US, China and Spain. He played high school ball for La Salle-Zobel in the Philippines and then for LA Cathedral, where he was eventually discovered by the Bruins. - With report from Joey Villar
