Socceroo claims No. 7, trips Dolphins

Joey Villar - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Team Socceroo FC stretched its win run to seven as it subdued Dolphins United FC, 2-0, in the Second Division of the United Football League at the McKinley Hill grounds in Taguig City Sunday night.

Korean Kang Dae Han unloaded a 15th minute rocket and Michael Mari Reyes struck on the 84th minute goal while the rest frustrated the Dolphins with a tough defense to complete the victory, their seventh straight for a 21-point output.

That was six points ahead of Agila FC, which has 15 points on five wins against two losses.

Union Internacional Manila clobbered Manila All-Japan, 3-1, to move up to No. 3 with 14 points on four victories and a couple of draws against a defeat.

After Union’s Ebenezer Owusu and Manila’s Shinichi Tanaka traded goals on the fourth and 11th minute, respectively, Ajah Goodluck Stanley scored on the 15th to give Union a 2-1 lead at halftime.

Simon Bayembg then knocked in a goal on the 56th and Union shut down Manila the rest of the way to preserve the lead and the win.

In the only other match, Dibi Pascal unleashed a brace as Forza FC turned back a stubborn Cimarron FC, 3-2, to join Laos FC at fourth with 13 match points on four wins and a standoff against a setback.

Pascal’s double came in a span of seven minutes starting on the 27th of the first half but an own goal by Forza made it 2-1 instead of a more comfortable 2-0 lead at halftime.

Nikko Paolo Villa gave Forza a 3-1 cushion but Yves Luthi De-Luis blasted a 73rd minute goal to threaten again.

Cimarron stayed at No. 6 with nine points on three wins against four defeats and Manila and Dolphins United were at joint No. 7 with six points on two wins against five setbacks.
