160 triathletes see action in White Rock tilt

MANILA, Philippines - Over 160 triathletes dispute top honors in the White Rock Triathlon 2011, the longest-running triathlon unfolding Saturday at the Whiterock Beach Resort and Water Park in Subic, Zambales.

Competition is expected to be keen with the field vying on a course that features a 2-km open sea ocean swim from the beach at the White Rock Beach Resort, a 91-km out-and-back bike course through scenic Zambales, and a 20-km run course into Subic that will challenge the participants on a hilly section tagged “Heartbreak Hills” and a long flat open section dubbed the “microwave” before winding up at the White Rock Beach Resort.

To be disputed in the eighth staging of the event, organized by Extribe Inc. in 2004, are the top three places in the male and female divisions in the overall race and the top three finishers in each group of both sides.

The field includes athletes, top executives, entrepreneurs and young professionals.

The event is held in partnership with Whiterock Beach Resort and Water Park, Province of Zambales, City of Olongapo and Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority and backed by Powerade, Wicked Active Gear, David’s Salon, Blue Cross, Speedo, Kameraworld, Total Fitness Magazine, Fitness First, Paragon, Mister Cool Misting Fans, New Balance and Chris Sports.
