Team Woman Run gets going tomorrow

MANILA, Philippines - Around 1,500 runners, including close to 90 squads vying in the team competition, will answer the starting gun tomorrow when the first Team Woman Run is fired off at the Venice Piazza Mall at McKinley Hill.

Cash prizes worth P200,000 are at stake in the featured four-woman team relay event, presented by Woman by Lactacyd, to be held over 21K or half-marathon distance. It is composed of four legs starting with the 10K and then the 5K with the last two stages a pair of 3K runs.

Skippers of each squad will have the option to field in one runner for two events on the first and last legs of the competition which features career women in various fields, including corporate executives and managers as well as running enthusiasts from different sectors.

Team Woman endorsers Bea Locsin, Leica Carpo, Chesca Carpo and Amanda Carpo will participate in the 21K relay event, sponsored by Timex, as guests.

The winning team will receive P70,000 while the runner-up and third placer will get P35,000 and P20,000, respectively.

Also on tap is the 5K individual race offering P20,000 to the champion. The second and third placers will receive P15,000 and P10,000, respectively.

The event is organized by EventKing and backed by 100 Plus, Alaska Slim, Beauty Bar, Bluewater Day Spa, David’s Salon, Dole, Summit and Timex and media partners Multisport, Runnerspeak and Women’s Health.

Another P30,000 pot will be staked for the best in costume with the winner getting P15,000 and the next two P10,000 and P5,000, respectively.
