Clutario, Tee stay in hunt in Maters event

Liza Clutario and Markwin Tee remained on track of their bid in the masters event of the bowling competitions in the 23rd Southeast Asian Games, finishing third and fourth, respectively, after the first block at the Pearl Bowling Center in Paranaque City yesterday.

Clutario, a doubles silver medalist, rolled an eight-game series of 228, 234, 256, 235, 245, 216, 204, 221 for a 1862 aggregate, including 50 bonus points, to place third behind Indonesia’s Putty Insavilla Armein and Jazreel Tan Shia Hua of Singapore. She had a 226 average.

Armein paced the filed with a 1918 total (247, 234, 256, 235, 245, 216, 204, 221), including 60 bonus points while Hua had a 1891 total (204, 247, 239, 221, 204, 232, 228, 266), including 50 bonus points.

Meanwhile, Tee, a silver medalist in the singles, placed fourth in the men’s side after scoring an eight-game series of 216, 235, 217, 211, 218, 268, 225, 244 for a 1894 total, including 60 bonus points. He averaged 229 pinfalls.

Sinagpore’s Remy Ong, Indonesia’s Ryan Leonard Lalisang, and Malaysia’s Daniel Lim Tow Chuang held the top three positions with 1941 (45 bonus), 1911 (70 bonus), and 1902 (70 bonus), respectively.

RP doubles gold medalists Joonie Gatchalian and CJ Suarez are in seventh and eighth, respectively with the former scoring 1821 pins and the latter 1818. — Paolo Mariano
