World junior golf elims slated at Sherwood Hills

-
Eliminations for the country’s bets to the regional pre-qualifying of the Junior World Team Championships in Thailand will be held Jan. 3-5, at the Sherwood Hills Golf Club course in Trece Martires, Cavite.

At stake in the open event are the four Philippine Team slots which will be disputed by at least 30 boys aged 17 years and below invited by the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines.

Those who will make it will battle it out with regional rivals at the Krisada Golf Club in Bangkok this February for the right to represent Asia in the Junior World Team Championships in Japan.

Tournament director Gerry Handog said they hope to form a competitive team which hopefully would make it all the way to Japan.

The Japan event will assemble qualifiers from all over the world including those in Europe and the Americas.

Meanwhile, Carl Santos Ocampo, Jayvie Agojo and Dottie Ardina led the winners of the recent Jungolf Anniversary held at the Riviera Golf and Country Club in Silang, Cavite.

Santos-Ocampo, taking the holiday break from his studies in Naples, Florida, scored a 76 at the Couples course to beat Kevin Lachica, Nonoy Negrido, Ian Intal and Martin Mediana for the boys Class A title.

Agojo beat Remijin Camping for girls Class A, Geleen Handog and Tonton Asistio prevailed in Class B, Debbie de Villa and Mikee Camitoc won in Class C while Ardina, playing in a new division, was a Class D winner like Holen Juan Superal. The Class E titles went to JR Gonzales and Cristina Potenciano.
