Bubuhayin din diumano ng Parangal ng Sining ang glamor ng  Golden Age of Philippine Cinema with the theme of Old Hollywood.

Matapos opisyal na italaga si Direk Jose Javier Reyes bilang bagong Chairman at CEO ng Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) noong Abril 8, ang Parangal Ng Sining 2024 ang kauna-unahang event na kanyang pangungunahan bilang kahalili ni dating FDCP Chair Tirso Cruz III.

Layunin nga ng FDCP na tipunin ang mga creator at stakeholder ng industriya ng pelikula sa Pilipinas upang ipagdiwang ang papel ng sinehan. Layunin din nitong hikayatin ang Filipino artist, educators, at film institutions na patuloy na makamit at magtrabaho para sa kahusayan sa kanilang craft.

Bubuhayin din diumano ng Parangal ng Sining ang glamor ng  Golden Age of Philippine Cinema with the theme of Old Hollywood.

Aalalahanin ang classic Filipino films and the elegant parties held at Sampaguita Studios, ang mga pararangalan at mga guest ay magbibihis black and white finery while the main stage will be displayed in technicolor.

At kabilang sa mga awardee ngayong taon si Boots Anson Roa-Rodrigo -  veteran actress and President of the Movie Workers Welfare Foundation (MOWELFUND), Inc. for 18 years.

Ganundin din si Dr. Nicanor Tiongson, miyembro ngManunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino and the Professor Emeritus of the University of the Philippines (UP) Film Institute.

Clodualdo “Doy” del Mundo, - an eminent filmmaker, screenwriter, and educator who has written the screenplays of acclaimed Filipino classics such as National Artist for Film Lino Brocka’s Maynila, sa mga Kuko ng Liwanag and Mike De Leon’s Kisapmata and Batch ‘81. He has also directed films such as Pepot Superstar and  Paglipad ng Anghel.

Kasama rin sa pararangalan si Armando “Bing” Lao - award-winning filmmaker and prolific screenwriter who has written the screenplays of Jeffrey Jeturian’s Kubrador and Brillante Mendoza’s films Kinatay and Serbis, na parehong lumaban sa Cannes Film Festival.

Kikilalanin din ang  Society of Filipino Archivists for Film (SOFIA) and ABS-CBN Film Restoration (Sagip Pelikula).

Nakatakda rin pagkalooban ng pagkilala si Gloria Romero - an award-winning veteran actress who starred in iconic films by Sampaguita Pictures tulad ng Dalagang Ilocana and Cofradia before venturing into matriarch roles in acclaimed films Tanging Yaman,   Magnifico, and Rainbow’s Sunset.

At Posthumous Awardee si Teddy Co - Co is also known as a staunch advocate of Philippine independent and regional cinema, encouraging cultural diversity and wider visibility of regional films in the country. He also served as the Head of National Committee on Cinema and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) Commissioner for the Arts.

Parangal ng Sining: Honorary Distinction si Jaclyn Jose  who passed away last month na first Southeast Asian actress to win the highly coveted Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actress for Brillante Mendoza’s film, Ma’ Rosa.
