25 CPP-NPA terrorists sumuko sa Negros Island

MANILA, Philippines — Dumanas ng panibagong dagok ang CPP-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) kasunod ng pagsuko ng 25 nitong miyembro sa tropa ng pamahalaan sa Negros Island nitong Biyernes.

Ayon kay Lt. Col. J-Jay Javines, Spokesman ng Philippine Army-3rd Infantry Division (ID), ang grupo ng mga komunistang teroristang rebelde ay sumurender sa Local Task Force  to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC), Philippine Army at PNP sa Negros Island.

“They took their oath of allegiance to the government in a ceremony facilitated by the Local Govern­ment Unit of Himamaylan City and 94 Infantry Battalion held at the City Hall of the said municipality in Negros Occidental,” pahayag ni Javines.

Ang mga nagsisuko ay pawang mga tumiwalag na kasapi ng Central Negros 2 (CN2), Komiteng Rehiyon-Negros, Cebu, Bohol, Siquijor (KR-NCBS) ng CPP-NPA. Isinurender din nila ang walong armas na kinabibilangan ng anim na shotgun at dalawang .38 caliber revolvers at 9 rounds ng mga bala.

 “Your dedication in fostering understanding, dialogue, and cooperation among all stakeholders has paved the way for this momentous occasion,” pahayag ni Brig Gen. Orlando Edralin, commander ng 303rd Infantry Brigade ng Army sa isang simpleng seremonya.

Pinapurihan din ni Army’s 3rd ID commander Major Gen. Marion Sison ang lokal na Task Force ELCAC, 94th IB at PNP sa matagumpay na pagsuko ng 25 CPP-NPA terrorists.

Sa isinagawang custodial debriefing, sinabi ng mga surrenderees na nagdesisyon silang talikuran ang CPP-NPA dahil sa matinding demoralisasyon sa liderato ng grupo, matinding pagod, hirap at gutom na tinitiis sa kabundukan habang hinahabol ng tropa ng pamahalaan.
