Tabal tinutulungan ng 3-coaches

MANILA, Philippines — Ang pagkakaroon ng tatlong coaches ang inaasahang magpapalakas sa tsansa ni Mary Joy Tabal na maitakbo ang gold medal sa women’s marathon sa darating na 30th Southeast Asian Games.

Bukod sa kanyang personal coach na si John Duenas, ang Cebuana Olympian ay ginagabayan din nina Japanese coaches Yuhei Sato at Akio Usami.

Hangad ni Tabal na mapanatiling suot ang kanyang SEA Games crown.

Si Sato ang head coach ng women’s long distance team ng Nippon Sports Science University kung saan nagsanay si Tabal noong Setyembre 4.

Isa namang marathon veteran si Usami noong 1968, 1972 at 1976 Summer Olympics.

Kumpiyansa si Tabal, ibinigay sa bansa ang unang gold medal noong 2017 SEA Games sa Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia sa bilis na 2:48:26 na masisikwat niya ang gintong medalya  sa 2019 SEA Games.

Ang nasabing oras ng 30-anyos na si Tabal ay pitong minuto ang layo kay silver medalist Hoang Thi Thanh ng Vietnam at halos 10 minuto kay Natthaya Thanaronnawat, ang 2015 gold winner ng Thailand.

Huling nagtungo si Tabal sa NSSU noong 2016 bilang paghahanda para sa Olympic Games sa Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

“The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) has been supportive of Tabal and the rest of the Philippine team, especially for this SEA Games which we will be hosting,” sabi ni PSC chairman William ‘Biutch’ Ramirez. “The recent developments, where we had international victories will be an inspiration to all of us.”

Sinabi ni Tabal na wala siyang ibang nasa isip kundi ang makuha ang gintong medalya sa 2019 SEA Games na nakatakda sa Nobyembre 30 hanggang Dis-yembre 11.
