6-man advance party ng RP delegation umalis na

Umalis kahapon ang six-man advance party ng Team Philippines patungong Doha, Qatar na una sa pinakamalaking grupo ng RP delegation na lalahok sa 15th Asian Games mula Disyembre 1-15.

Sakay ng Qatar Airways bandang alas-2:30 ng hapon sina PSC commissioner Richie Garcia, deputy chef de mission, administration officials Moying Martelino at Nestor Ilagan, secretariats Carlos Roque, at sports ambassadors Eleanor dela Peña at Eric Loretizo.

 Pagkatapos ng alas-9 ng umagang meeting, si Garcia at mga kasama ay tutungo sa 25-apartment athletes building, magsisimulang magkabit ng mga kailangang kagamitan at magverify ng rate cards na gagamitin sa pagbili at ilang dapat na ayusin sa pagdating ng RP flag-bearer bowling icon na si Paeng Nepomuceno.

Sina PSC chairman William Ramirez, Team RP Chef de Mission, ay aalis naman sa Nobyembre 20 habang si deputy chef de mission Mario Tanchanco ay susunod sa Nov. 28.

Ang three-man sailing team ay tutungo naman sa Doha ngayon kasunod ang mga kinatawan ng national sports associations mula sa table tennis, baseball, rowing, badminton at equestrian sa Nov. 26; ang aquatics sa Nov. 27, swimming, beach volleyball, boxing, chess, gymnastics, judo, sepak takraw, shooting, soft tennis at weightlifting sa Nov. 28; diving, bowling, sepak takraw at equestrian sa Nov. 29, bowling, cycling, rowing, cue sports, shooting at tennis sa Nov. 30; sailing at canoe sa Dec. 1; taekwondo, athletics at triathlon sa Dec. 3; equestrian sa Dec. 4; equestrian, golf, wrestling, bodybuilding, archery, fencing at cycling sa Dec. 5; equestrian sa Dec. 6; diving, squash at wushu sa Dec. 7; at karate sa Dec. 8-9.

May kabuuang 39 sports ang nakalinya sa Doha Asian Games calendar, na may 423 medals ang nakataya.

Ang Philippines, na may 229 athletes,ay lalahok sa 32 disciplines, at walang kinata-wan basketball, football, handball, hockey, kabaddi, rugby at softball.
