Tabunda humakot ng 5 gintong medalya

Habang patuloy ang pananalasa ng host City na Manila sa kasalukuyang 2nd Manila Youth Games National Invitational kahapon, pumukaw ng pansin si Justine Tabunda na nagsubi ng limang golds sa athletics event na ginanap sa Rizal Memorial Track Oval.

Iniambag ni Tabunda, anak ni dating national marathon king at produkto ng Project: Gintong Alay na si Justo Tabunda, ang ginto mula sa boy’s 13-15 years old 800m, 1,500m, 3,000m, 4x100m relay at 4x400m relay para sa Manila na mayroon nang kabuuang 49-golds magmina ng 16-ginto, 12 nito ay sa athletics kahapon at apat sa badminton.

Ang Manila ay mayroon ding 37-silvers at 33-bronzes at halos sigurado na sa overall title dahil ang kanilang pinakamalapit na kalaban na Quezon City ay may 18-golds, 20-silver at 23-bronzes lamang patungo sa huling araw ng kompetisyon.

Nagsubi naman si Rhealyn Pascua ng Candon City matapos kunin ang tatlong gintong medalya sa girl’s 12-under long jump, 100m dash at baseball throw.

Kabilang sa top-10 ng standings ng weeklong event na suportado ng Converse katulong ang San Miguel Corp., Tanduay, Pagcor, Super Ferry at Milo, Landbank, Metrobank, Procter and Gamble, Globe Telecoms, Spurway Enterprises, Jex Nylon Shuttles, STI-Taft, PLDT MyDSL, Aktivade, Isuzu Manila, Intra Sports at Concept Movers ay ang Laguna Province (10-6-8), Baguio City (9-15-10), Candon City (7-11-7), Muntinlupa (5-11-13), Taguig (5-4-7), Parañaque (4-4-11), Valenzuela (3-2-3) at Cavite (1-2-6).

Ang apat na gold sa badminton ay galing kina Marie Estela Helit at Rochelle dela Cruz (girl’s 15-under doubles), Steven Paul Rabanol (boy’s 15-under singles), Marie Estela Helit (girl’s 15-under singles) at Marie Estela Helit at Steven Paul Rabanol (15-under mixed doubles). (Mae Balbuena)
