SM cares for Batangas
THE PEPPER MILL - Pepper Teehankee (The Philippine Star) - February 4, 2020 - 12:00am

SM Supermalls president Steven Tan rolled up his sleeves and recently led the SM Group’s relief operations in Batangas.

The group went to Calaca Central School evacuation center and was joined by broadcast journalist Karen Davila in providing aid to over 350 displaced families in Calaca, one of the smaller towns unreached by the relief efforts.

Steven called on the support of everyone to drop off in-kind donations at the designated Oplan Tulong Express booths in 12 SM malls in South Luzon, namely Bacoor, Dasmariñas, Molino, Rosario, Trece Martires, Imus, Santa Rosa, San Pablo, Calamba, Batangas, Lipa and Lucena.

SM brought cheer to families and kids in evacuation centers with SM Bears of Joy.

SM also made sure that its employees from the affected areas and their families were given relief assistance. SM Center Lemery in Batangas has been closed since Jan. 13, but its employees were absorbed by nearby SM malls in the cities of Batangas and Lipa.

The SM Group has given over 23,000 relief packs to evacuation centers in over 50 towns and barangays in Batangas and now reaching centers in Cavite and Laguna.

It’s nice to know that Steven and the SM Group are always on-ground to give back to the community!
