Miriam College hosts Indian Ambassador's visit

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Indian Ambassador to the Philippines Rajeet Mitter was at Miriam College recently to give a lecture on the topic: “60 years of Philippine-India relations.” The activity is the first of a series of ambassador visits and lectures initiated by College of International, Humanitarian, and Development Studies (CIHDS).

In his lecture, Ambassador Mitter emphasized on the strong trade relations between the Philippines and India which have resulted in booming industries for both countries. To continue its 60 years of friendship, he said, India, through its embassy here in the Philippines, continues to “work with the Filipino community and government to add new substance and content to both countries’ relationship.”

CIHDS dean Dr. Leticia Ramos-Shahani expressed hope that through such activity, Miriam College as an institution “will be able to contribute to the growing RP-Indian friendship.”

As an initial step to foster ties with the school and at the same time to give Miriam College students an opportunity to learn more about their country, the Indian embassy provided the opportunity for CIHDS students to join the ASEAN trip to India this April.
