Valentine’s Day pamanhikan for Mikey

Love is in the air, and wedding bells are soon to follow.

President Arroyo and her husband will be spending Valentine’s Day accompanying their eldest son, Pampanga Vice Gov. Mikey Arroyo, in the Filipino tradition of pa-mamanhikan to ask for his love’s hand in marriage.

The President and First Gentleman Mike Arroyo, who just planed in from Los Angeles, California last night, will be at Forbes Park in Makati City tonight to visit the Montenegros, their future in-laws and parents of Mikey’s bride-to-be Angela Montenegro.

Mrs. Arroyo said she is looking forward to the wedding, which is scheduled next month.

The President also said she is excited over the prospect of being a grandmother.

"I know I will have a very cute apo because Mikey and Angela are both good-looking," she said.

The 32-year-old Mikey, who is also a movie actor, met Angela last year at a family reunion in Baguio City. They are second cousins.

After renewing acquaintances, the couple announced their engagement last December.

Angela, also 32, is a graduate of the London School of Business. She is the daughter of business leader Herman Montenegro, a close acquaintance of the President when she was still with the Department of Trade and Industry.
