3 slain in Calabarzon shootings

BATANGAS , Philippines — Three people were killed in separate shooting incidents in Calabarzon this week.

On Wednesday night, a 49-year-old man was shot dead by an unidentified gunman in Lipa, Batangas.

The fatality was standing in front of his house in Barangay Rizal when he was killed at past 7 p.m.

The victim’s son, who heard and went out to check the source of the gunshots, said he saw his father lying on the ground and the gunman standing nearby.

He said the gunman reloaded his firearm and fired two more shots at his father before fleeing on a motorcycle.

The victim was declared dead on arrival at the nearby Divine Love Medical Center.

On the same night, a 50-year-old man was shot dead by unidentified men in Candelaria, Quezon.

The victim was standing in front of a store in Barangay Pahinga Norte when he was killed at around 9 p.m.

Probers recovered several bullet shells at the crime scene.

In Antipolo, Rizal, an unidentified woman was shot dead near a church in Barangay Inarawan on Tuesday night.

The victim, who was reportedly wearing a dog tag marked “Aiza,” was declared dead on arrival at the Mambugan Hospital.

Probers have yet to determine the motives for the killings.
