ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — Household helpers in Zamboanga peninsula and in the province of Sulu will receive  a pay hike after the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board approved a new wage order benefitting close to 19,000 kasambahays.

The wage order, approved on April 16, will take effect at the end of this month following publication in a newspaper of general circulation, according to RTWPB chairman and Department of Labor and Employment-Zamboanga chief Albert Gutib.

The order will bring the minimum monthly pay of household workers to P6,000 from P5,500 for those employed in chartered cities and first-class municipalities, and to P5,500 for towns.
