MALOLOS, Bulacan, Philippines — A fire of still unknown origin destroyed a mosquito coil factory in Pandi town in this province yesterday.

Firefighters said the fire that struck the New Coco Industrial Manufacturing Corp., which is located at the Pandi Industrial Park in Barangay Cupang, started early in the morning.

Manuel Lukban Jr., provincial disaster risk reduction and management officer, said the blaze reached first alarm and was declared out at 9:33 a.m.

No one was reported injured or killed in the incident.

As of 2 p.m. yesterday, clearing operations were ongoing at the scene.

Meanwhile in Davao City, up to 200 families were left homeless in a fire that struck a residential area and destroyed up to P2 million worth of property.

No one was reported killed in the blaze that occurred in Barangay 23-C Boulevard.

A 38-year-old man was rushed to a hospital for treatment of injuries and burns.

The fire reportedly broke out at around 8 p.m. on Thursday and reached fourth alarm before it was declared out at 1:15 a.m. yesterday.

The Bureau of Fire Protection said up to 150 houses were destroyed in the blaze.

Probers have yet to determine the cause of the fire.
