Go turns over Super Health Center in Cotabato
MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Bong Go has reaffirmed his efforts for accessible health care at the grassroots level as he led the turnover of a Super Health Center in Tulunan, Cotabato.
Go was joined by Tulunan Mayor Lee Ventura Villasor and Vice Mayor Rhezan Obrique during the event held in Barangay Banayal on Monday.
He thanked local officials for attending the event including Gov. Emmylou Mendoza, Vice Gov. Rochella Marie Taray and Rep. Maria Alana Samantha Santos.
Go recognized workers in the health care sector whom he described as essential parts of the country’s health system.
He said the Super Health Center initiative has been among his priorities since he became senator, noting that although he continues to advocate its expansion, the Department of Health (DOH) remains to be the lead implementing and operating agency for these facilities.
Go said the Super Health Center program is intended to decongest hospitals as it delivers frontline services directly to communities.
He stressed the importance of coordination between local government units and the DOH to ensure that the centers are functioning.
From Tulunan, Go proceeded to the town of San Fernando in Bukidnon, where he turned over a similar facility to the local government.
