1 dead, 3 missing in Cotabato flash flood

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — An 11-year-old boy drowned while his three companions were reported missing after they were swept away by floodwaters in Kabacan, Cotabato on Thursday.

The body of the victim was found by members of a local rescue team near the Pulangi River in Barangay Kayaga.

Reports said the boy and his seven companions were fishing in the river when floodwaters from upland areas cascaded down and swept them away.

Four of the boys were rescued by responding village officials.
