PNP promotes 10,379 cops nationwide

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police yesterday promoted 10,379 uniformed personnel in a simultaneous nationwide oathtaking and donning of ranks – one of the largest promotion activities under the PNP’s continuous and regular promotion program this year.
According to the PNP, 82 were promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel, 131 to major, 199 to captain and 144 to lieutenant.
At least 9,823 others were given non-commissioned officer ranks, which ranged from patrolmen and patrolwomen to executive master sergeant.
Acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. administered the oath for personnel based at Camp Crame.
He reminded the officers that a promotion is not a privilege but a bigger responsibility.
“When you wear your new rank, the public sees it immediately – how you speak to people, how you decide under pressure and how you treat those with less power,” Nartatez said.
In Calabarzon and Mimaropa regions, Brig. Gens. Paul Kenneth Lucas and Jovencio Badua Jr. respectively led the oath-taking and pinning of ranks ceremonies for 1,009 officers.
The PNP said each promotion represents not only career advancement, but a renewed commitment to integrity, accountability and service to the Filipino people.
