Malabon police seize guns, explosives

MANILA, Philippines — Police arrested three people and seized several guns, grenade, bullets and a bulletproof vest with National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) markings in Malabon City yesterday.
Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio Peñones Jr., Central Luzon police director, withheld the names of the three people, but said they were the primary suspects in yesterday’s early morning robbery in Barangay Liciada in Bustos, Bulacan.
“We are investigating their possible links to a criminal group and we will continue to coordinate with the Bulacan provincial police, National Capital Region Police Office and national support units to dismantle networks that pose a threat to community safety,” Peñones said.
The three were arrested in Barangay Panghulo by operatives of the Bulacan police and the police regional intelligence division, in coordination with Malabon city police.
Recovered from the suspects were five guns, Uzi 9mm machine pistol, M16 rifle, Benelli upper receiver, hand grenade, bullets, cellphones and a bulletproof vest marked NBI.
