MANILA, Philippines — Portions of some roads in Metro Manila were submerged following a thunderstorm that dumped heavy rains in the metropolis yesterday.

Portions of Dr. A. Santos Avenue in Parañaque City were flooded up to about 15 inches of rainwater but remained passable to vehicles, according to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.

The MMDA said other areas of the avenue had floodwaters up to the sidewalk level.

In Manila, parts of Taft and Burgos Avenues, particularly near the city hall and at the foot of Quezon Bridge, were flooded up to the sidewalk level.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration raised thunderstorm advisories in the metropolis starting at noon yesterday.
