3 dead, 2 injured in Quezon car crash

SAN NARCISO, Quezon, Philippines — Three people were killed and two others were injured after a private van crashed into houses along the San Narciso-Mulanay Road in Barangay Abuyon here on Saturday.

S/Sgt. Marcelo Calibuso Jr., San Narciso police investigator, said all the victims were family members who had gathered for the long weekend, spending their Saturday in the town’s Talisay Beach.

Calibuso said the group was already returning to their home in Abuyon when the accident happened.

Among the fatalities were a married couple from Abuyon and their brother-in-law from Pampanga, who was driving the van.

The driver’s wife and another passenger were injured and taken to a hospital for treatment.

According to Calibuso, the couple from Pampanga arrived in Abuyon at dawn on Saturday to pick up their relatives in the barangay.

They spent that day at the beach, he said.

Witnesses said the van veered off the road and slammed into two houses by the roadside.

Police probers are still determining the cause of the crash.
