ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — A magnitude 4.9 earthquake shook parts of Central and Western Mindanao on Monday night, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

The epicenter of the quake was recorded 41 kilometers northwest of Datu Blah Sinsuat, Phivolcs regional officer Allan Rommel Labayog said.

Labayog said no damage and aftershocks were expected from the quake, which was caused by the movement of the Cotabato Trench.

The temblor was felt at Intensity 3 in Datu Blah Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte; Siayan and Sindangan towns in Zamboanga del Norte; Alicia, Buug and Diplahan in Zamboanga Sibugay; Pigkawayan, Cotabato, and Kalamansig and Lebak in Sultan Kudarat.

The quake was felt at Intensity 2 in Bacungan, Labason, Liloy, Mutia, Sergio Osmeña, Tampilisan and Dipolog City in Zamboanga del Norte; Molave, Mahayag and Pagadian City in Zamboanga del Sur; Zamboanga City; Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte; Malabang, Lanao del Sur; Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao and Cotabato City.
